Fashion Revolution Week

Fashion Revolution Week

Fashion Revolution Week is almost here! Running from April 18th to the 24th, Fashion Revolution Week is all about reimagining the fashion industry. It highlights working conditions & the rights of garment workers so that we can collectively make fashion sustainable, ethical & safe.

What is Fashion Revolution?

Fashion Revolution is a UK-based charity dedicated to creating a just, equitable fashion system that prioritizes people over profits and the environment over earnings.

Fashion Revolution was founded in the wake of the Rana Plaza disaster. Rana Plaza housed five garment factories in Dhaka, Bangladesh, and employed around 5,000 people, primarily young women. On April 24th, 2013, the Rana Plaza building collapsed, killing more than 1,100 people and injuring more than 2,500. It remains one of the worst industrial accidents on record.

For more information on the Rana Plaza Disaster, read this.

Fashion Revolution was created to fight for a more ethical and sustainable fashion industry. As the world’s largest fashion activism movement, Fashion Revolution’s goals include_

  • Ending environmental and human exploitation within the industry

  • Transparency and accountability within the fashion industry and supply chain.

  • Implementing ethical labor practices for garment workers and all people working within the fashion supply chain, including a live wage and safe working conditions.

What is Fashion Revolution Week?

Fashion Revolution Week is their annual awareness and action campaign. It happens every year in the week surrounding April 24th. This is a time to remember the lives lost and push for change.

This year’s theme is MONEY FASHION POWER and will run from April 18th through April 24th, 2022. Fashion Revolution is hosting online and in-person events all week to educate, inform, and start a discussion about different issues in the fashion industry.

Join the Fashion Revolution. Because no one should die for fashion.
